Nsukka, Nigeria Catholic Schools

In August 2006, the recently established Catholic Diocese of Nsukka, Nigeria dreamed of Catholic Schools to effectively educate students from nursery through high school. This parthership followed based on the professional and personal friendships that are rooted in the global mission of Catholic education. Cardinal Francis George, O.M.I. and Bishop Francis Okobo exchanged letters of agreement to establish the partnership in September 2006. A Committee of Interest has developed strong support for the partnership and have contributed immense assistance in designing and building a foundation for effective Catholic Schools in Nsukka. Missions trips from the Catholic Schools have studied the strengths of the Nsukka Diocese. Read the reports and study the photos at this site. The Catholic School Children in Chicago support their peers in Nsukka through their Dollars for Dreams program each spring.

So glad we had this time together!

Today we had an enthusiastic gathering to teach each other how to use this blog spot.

School Anniversary

This Friday we're celebrating the 110th anniversary of our school and 125th anniversary of our parish. It's going to be a big party with ice cream and birthday cake, and there will also be lots of fun games! Everyone at school is really looking forward to it!

Partnership Grows

This morning we are skyping with our friends in Nsukka, and we here at St. Viator Elementary School in Chicago are excited to tell each other about our schools this year.
